Best and Worst of Spalding Part II
So, a week or so ago I blogged about the best things about living in Spalding and South Holland.Today, I feel like having a bit of a moan about the less positive aspect of living around here.
Here's my top five - I'd love to hear yours.
1. Traffic lights - OK, we might suffer traffic congestion like some places but can anyone tell me why we need so many traffic lights? They are at just about every junction and in my opinion cause more traffic chaos than they prevent. Has anyone else noticed that when they fail or are switched off the traffic seems to flow much more freely?
2. Technology takes an age to come to South Holland - All these companies boast super high speed broadband and here in Pinchbeck I struggle on with a super-slow connection because the cabling is so old and doddery it makes Bruce Forsyth look like a spring chicken. And as for cable services - don't even get me started.
3. Public transport - I don't use it much myself but that's probably because buses only run every other Tuesday at 8.13am and 6.12pm. That's perhaps a bit of an exaggeration but you know what I mean!
4. Shopping - Previously I have blogged about how you can get just about anything you need from shops in Spalding and South Holland, but let's be honest we could still benefit from a bit more choice, especially on the fashion front.
5. No-one knows where we are - How many people have you met while on holiday for example who have asked you where you are from and when you say Spalding they look at you blankly? And those who do know it just mumble something about it being flat and boring. It's about time Spalding and South Holland were put firmly on the map.
