Gordon Boswell Romany Museum

Description:

The Gordon Boswell Museum is located in Clay Lake, Spalding, and is a unique experience for all the family, containing one of the country's finest collections of Romany vardos, or gypsy caravans, carts and harnesses.

Visitors are greeted with a slideshow and talk about the Romany way of life and there is also a unique collection of Romany photographs and sketches spanning the past 150 years.

The museum is open from the end of March to the end of October from 11am to 4.30pm on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays.

It is closed from June 1 - 17 due to Gordon and Margaret attending Appleby Horse Fair.

Admission costs £5.25 for adults, £3 for children and £5 for OAPs.

Group visits are by appointment any time of year, day or evening and include a conducted tour and slideshow.

Group prices are £7.25 for adults, £5 for children and £7 for OAPs.

There is a small gift shop and you can also visit the stables to see the horses.

Gordon Boswell also provides Romany days out for groups of four adults and two children, when you can go out in a horse-drawn Romany Vardo and enjoy a meal cooked over a traditional Romany stick fire.

A horse-drawn glass coach is available for hire for weddings and a horse-drawn glass hearse for funerals.

Disabled visitors are welcome.
