A bus driver who takes pupils to and from Long Sutton's Peele School is to be honoured at a Lincolnshire awards ceremony alongside other taxi and minibus drivers from Spalding and South Holland.Stephen Eaton, of WH Fowler and Sons took first prize in the bus category after being nominated by pupils at the school and he will receive his Max Respect Driver of the Year award at a special ceremony being held on July 10.
He is one of three winners and nine runners-up to be honoured in the awards scheme run by Lincolnshire County Council to reward and congratulate home to school transport drivers for reliability, customer care, safety and pupil management.
Cllr William Webb, Executive Member for Highways and Traffic, said:"These awards, and their popularity with our schools, illustrate how fortunate Lincolnshire is to have so many tremendously careful and skilled drivers.
"Home-to-school transport is, of course, a huge responsibility and it is therefore so important to recognise that we have drivers who are among the best in the business."
The winners will receive a plaque and certificate, a £50 voucher of their choice and a VIP day for them and a guest to RAF Cranwell, donated by RAF Cranwell. Runners-up receive a commemorative plaque and a certificate.
Pupil representatives from Long Sutton the Peele will also be present at the ceremony.
A record 249 nominations were received this year.
