Opticians and restaurant provide Spalding jobs boost

10 November 2008

Description:

A jobs boost is on the cards for Spalding when two national companies open their doors.

Frankie and Benny's plans to open a restaurant in Spalding's Camelgate, close to Springfields Outlet Shopping and Festival Gardens, by mid-December and Vision Express is opening an opticians in Spalding town centre.

The new eatery is expected to create between 35 and 40 new jobs and up to 10 more positions will be created at Vision Express when it opens in Hall Place.

Vision Express wants to change the use of the former Boston College centre and is seeking approval for the move.

South Holland District Council economic development manager Bruce Wakeling said: "This is all adding to the picture that Spalding is a centre where national companies want to come to."

He added that South Holland appears to be bucking the national trend and that other national companies have expressed an interest in moving to the district.
