Description:
Lincolnshire Police are urging owners of Mitsubishi cars in South Holland to be on their guard after catalytic converters were stolen from two vehicles in the Long Sutton area.Police are appealing for information after a catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle in Marriots Gate, Lutton, sometime overnight on August 26/27.
Offenders stole a catalytic converter from a Mitsubishi pickup truck in what was the second theft from a Mitsubishi in the area in the last couple of days.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: "Thieves are targeting these particular vehicles and owners need to be aware.
"Protecting against these thefts is very difficult and parking vehicles off the road, in garages is the only sure-fire way of doing it.
"Beyond that taking measure to make sure people can't easily get under your vehicle is the only step you can take.
"Defensive parking is an option if you do not have a garage. Think about blocking your vehicle in with other vehicles.
"Another option if to build up a few columns of paving slabs underneath it as night too. This would just mean it would take longer and create more noise for a criminal to do the job. This is often enough to deter them and make them look for another vehicle to target".
The first theft happened in Lime Walk, Long Sutton, sometime between 5pm on August 21 and 10am on August 26.
Offenders stole the catalytic converter from a Mitsubishi Shogun, which was parked in the road.
