Description:
Work towards a replacement for Jobson's Bridge at Pode Hole, near Spalding, is to be delayed while the county council give residents and the parish council an opportunity to engage further with the designers.
The county council recently declared that the existing timber structure would soon become unsafe due to rotting and consequently began the process of development of a new crossing which - unlike the current bridge, built before design standards were imposed - would comply with current safety and accessibility standards.
However, the county council admitted confusion may have been caused by its term "reconstruction" rather than "replacement" in a letter to Pinchbeck Parish Council. Further time is therefore considered necessary to enable more engagement with the local community.
Cllr William Webb, executive member for highways, said:"Following comments from local people and Pinchbeck Parish Council, operations on Jobson's Bridge have been delayed for a short time, pending a review. This will allow the county council time to carry out some additional work on the design options available."
