Description:
Free, fantastic fun for all the family is on the cards this weekend (Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8) when Ayscoughfee Hall, Spalding, welcomes visitors to its wonderful Winter Craft Fair.A wide variety of stalls featuring a diverse range of top quality, locally made crafts will be situated around the historic building, plus there will be demonstrations, local history talks and a children's treasure hunt, with some great prizes up for grabs.
Youngsters can follow a trail around the museum where they will be challenged to find items hidden amongst some of the venue's exhibits, including Ayscoughfee's infamous mummified cat!
Not only this, but there's also the chance to take part in stained glass taster sessions where people can make a beautiful ornament to take away, and visitors will be treated to the soothing sounds of Native American-style flutes, played and hand-crafted by Steve Frost of NightStar Flutes, one of the stallholders.
On Saturday, November 7 visitors could also become a radio star when South Holland Radio will be stationed in Ayscoughfee's entrance hall and interviewing willing volunteers for a show to be broadcast before Christmas.
Crafts on display and for sale will include stained glass ornaments, textiles, teddy bears, parchment craft, paintings, bags, preserves, candles, t-shirts, baby clothes, papier mache containers, cards, wooden flutes and all kinds of jewellery including ceramic items and 'medicine' jewellery made from natural materials such as crystals, wood, bone and leather.
Head of Economic & Community Development for SHDC Sue Bolter said: "Winter Crafts has been organised by local people for local people and really is a weekend of fun for all the family. We really hope that the community will get behind this free event and bring all their friends and family along to take in the wonderful surroundings of Ayscoughfee and its gardens. It's a great chance to stock up on some unique early Christmas presents."
Winter Crafts takes place at Ayscoughfee Hall, Churchgate, Spalding on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8 between 10.30am and 4pm.
Hot and cold refreshments will be available in the Pavilion garden cafe.
Free parking is available along the side of the road to the front of the hall and there is a large pay and display public car park next to the venue.
