Daughter's tribute to stabbed Long Sutton mum

The daughter of Carol Cannom has spoken about how much she will miss her mum who came to Long Sutton to live a quieter life.

Mrs Cannom was stabbed 52 times in an alleged domestic incident at her home in Windsor Gardens. Her partner, Malcolm Palmer, has been charged with murder.

The victim's daughter, Claire Cannom (26), said her mum's death had caused her family "enormous pain".

She said: "It's just had an unbelievable impact on us all, none of our lives will ever be the same again.

"I turned to mum for so much. Whenever I needed help or advice about anything she was there for me."

"She gave me so much support through my pregnancy and looking after my child. She was a great listener and always had the answer - I don't have that now.

"It's just impossible to say how much I will miss her.

"Her children were her number-one priority, we were the most important thing in her life. She was so loving and so protective.

"I will miss her affection too. She was always hugging me, even at my age. I used to tell her to pack it in. You don't realise what you've got until it's gone."

Claire said her mum had moved to the area about nine years ago from the London area to get out of the rat race and live a quieter life.

Carol had three horses, Teeche, Cloudy and Tilly, which she rode regularly.

Claire said: "My fondest memories of mum are of when we used to go riding together. She loved her horses and her six cats, Jasmine, Lilly, Ollie, Poppy, Thomas and Felix.

"Her sense of humour was great too, she used to make us all laugh all the time.

"She was the kind of person who would say what everyone else was thinking, but didn't have the nerve to blurt it out - we will all miss her for that."
