Spalding shoppers are to be offered advice on how to stop smoking when support group's exhibition trailer comes to town.Smokefree Lincs Alliance and its partners will be parking up outside Boots in Spalding town centre's pedetrianised area as part of a county-wide series of events to mark national No Smoking Day on Wednesday, March 11.
The Spalding event will be held on Thursday, March 12, when experts will be on hand to give help and advice to Spalding shoppers who have made New Year resolutions to kick their smoking habit.
Anne Bardgett, deputy manager of Lincolnshire's quit smoking support group Phoenix, said: "A number of opportunities are available for people who want help to quit.
"The East Midlands is already one of the top areas for people successfully kicking the habit and Phoenix has played a huge role in this.
"Between April and mid-December 2008, 3,970 people set a quit date with Phoenix and we're pleased to say that 2,203 have quit so far.
"Our advisors are available now for those who want help in achieving their new year's resolutions and throughout the week of No Smoking Day, when they will be in various locations, including shopping centres, supermarkets and market places to offer advice and support."
Research shows that smokers are four times more likely to quite with support from their local NHS stop-smoking service.
