Description:
Lincolnshire Police have warned young thieves that they will get a criminal record if and when they caught after a spate of thefts of Volkswagen car badges in Sutton Bridge.
Between Thursday and Saturday car badges were stolen from two vehicles parked in Queen Street and one in St Matthew's Drive in Long Sutton.
Officers are keen to nip this type of offending in the bud and are warning youngsters that they face a criminal record if and when they are caught.
Lincolnshire Police spokesman James Newall said: "We do get spates of this type of offence from time to time as VW badges have always been fairly collectable.
"This crime does cause the owners of the vehicles considerable inconvenience and cost and officers will be stepping up patrols to catch the offenders.
"Anyone caught will be charged with theft and will face a criminal record, which could seriously jeopardise their future opportunities.
"We are also calling on parents who suspect their children of this crime to search their children's bedrooms and to contact us if they find any stolen property."
Anyone with any information about the VW badge thefts can call Spalding Police Station on 01775 722233 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
