Description:
Shoppers in Spalding and other towns in South Holland are being told to be on their guard after a rise in the number of rogue traders.Lincolnshire Police say Spalding's Bridge Street is one area they know has been regularly targetted by peddlers and has warned people to think twice before shelling out for a "too good to be true" bargain.
Spalding community beat manager Pc Paul Smith said: "It is happening all over the south of Lincolnshire, including Spalding. These people are only there for half an hour or so and then they go again.
"Some of them are selling genuine products but nine times out of ten the gold jewellery will be copper, the leather jackets will be PVC and a £400 Italian watch is actually a £2.50 Chinese one.
"We are concerned about it and we are being proactive about policing it but the public can help themselves by being wary."
