Description:
Following last year's successful 50th Flower Parade and World Tulip Summit, the Lincolnshire market town of Spalding and the surrounding towns and villages in the South Holland area are once again preparing to welcome thousands of visitors to this year's May Bank Holiday celebrations.A "new-look" parade will travel through the centre of Spalding on Saturday afternoon (May 2) from 2pm and will include a floral cavalcade of traditional floats decorated in fresh tulip heads as well as other entries from local community groups and villages.
There will also be a Carnival Finale, with more than 180 school children taking part in a co-ordinated dance and musical procession.
The parade is being supported by Lincolnshire County Council, South Holland District Council and many other voluntary groups and commercial sponsors, and is widely recognised as one of the region's most important annual events, raising the profile of the area as a tourist destination and bringing important income to many charities and good causes, as well as generating additional revenue for local businesses.
The map of the route is below.
