Description:
Charity fundraisers wishing to raise money for the Parkinson's Disease Society are being invited to go 10% further by taking part in a 110% Walk being held in May at Springfields Outlet Shopping and Festival Gardens in Spalding. The 110% Walk is in support of Springfields' Charity of the Year for 2009, the Parkinson's Disease Society.
The Society - which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year - is the leading authority in the UK on the condition and a leading force in research. It campaigns for a better quality of life for people with Parkinson's across the UK.
The walk takes place on Saturday, May 16 and begins at 11am. It's not too late to sign up to take part and participants are being challenged to raise £110 in sponsorship. To reserve a place call 01775 760909 and have your debit or credit card handy to pay your registration fee. It is also possible to register on the day.
The name of the 110% Walk reflects the 110% effort that professionals and volunteers give every day in support of people with Parkinson's. The money raised will go towards helping the Parkinson's Disease Society in its quest to find a cure for the symptoms of the disease.
The 110% Walk will take people four times around the Festival Gardens site - a distance of two miles plus 10% extra! It is a family friendly distance and the route is flat and accessible for wheelchair users and people with pushchairs.
The entry fee is just £5 for adults and £3.50 for people aged under 18 if paid for in advance, or £7 and £4.50 respectively if registering on the day. It includes a 110% t-shirt, 110% medal and goodie bag at the finish.
Tracy Turnell, Springfields Communications Manager, said: "The Parkinson's Disease Society performs two key roles - working to find a cure and supporting those people with the disease and their families.
"Springfields is delighted to be supporting the Society as our Charity of the Year 2009 and the 110% Walk is a perfect way for people to raise money in a brilliant location.
The Festival Gardens at Springfields are beautiful and a mix of many styles and I'm sure all the walkers will have a very enjoyable time spending time in them and raising much needed funds."
